Bonjour! As part of my goal in developing The Desha Show and this blog, I am currently treating myself to a wonderful class called
Blogging Your Way, taught by
Holly Becker, of my favorite blog:
decor8.
This is a 4 week class where I'm learning techy stuff, like how to take pictures for my blog (still working on this!) and super fun projects like flower arranging, mood boards, styling photos etc.
I'm still working on my mood board, and I can't wait to share that, but today I've been inspired to take Holly's suggestion and write about a book that I LOVE.
It sits on my little coffee table, and my favorite thing to do is look at it while having tea and cookies. The cover itself, is worth the price of the book on
Amazon. You can also find it at
Anthroplogie, where I first discovered it.
Domino: The Book of Decorating is fashioned from one of my favorite magazines,
Domino Magazine, which is no longer around. That's part of the reason the book is such a jewel.
Besides inspiring photos of beautifully designed interiors, this book also gives you tips on decorating your own space, such as an entryway, bathroom, bedroom, etc.
|
This is the entryway of Rita Konig's home, former contributing editor of Domino Magazine. Notice how the wallpaper in this entryway brings drama and beauty to a space that you might otherwise not notice. I think it's beautiful. |
|
Here's a little glimpse into the Living Room of Deborah Needleman, who was the chief editor of Domingo Magazine. In the book, she gives us the design story and how she brought her concepts into an elegant and welcoming space. |
|
There are also great tips on how to arrange a mantel and how to hang art. |
|
This is the office of Mary McDonald, an Interior Designer. My office is in dire need of some attention. You'd be horrified if I showed you a picture of it now, so good thing we have pretty offices like this one to be inspired by! |

I love this elegant, girly bathroom. My grandmother had a pink bathroom about this shade, and I spent many hours in there going through her make-up and rose scented perfumes. |

Hope you've enjoyed this little tour of my favorite design book. I'll be sure and do the same for
Holly Becker's book coming out in April. It will go right next to this one, alongside my favorite chair, waiting for me to enjoy with tea and treats.
