Before and After shots: I's Dollhouse

This isn't exactly a show idea, but I do like the concept of before and after shots for the show. So, here's a little sneak peek of something I've been working on.

I found this great handmade dollhouse at a local shop in Brattleboro called Experienced Goods Home Furnishing on Elliott St. Here's some before & after shots.

I got the paper from this great little shop in Portsmouth, NH called
called Gus and Ruby Letterpress http://www.gusandruby.com/

See below a video of Iyla - I think she likes her new doll house.

I love this room, wanted to leave a couple of walls shabby chic, but check out the paper on the floor here (under the queen and horse). Isnt' it lovley? I'm thinking of doing my bathroom in this one. Rock on queeny!

Stuff to do list to have my own show

Okay, now I have to figure out how to have my own show.
My goal is to do 12 shows in a year. The mission is that it needs to be good and produced well. I have 11 ideas so far, but these might morph over time.

Okay, the list. What do I need to do? How do I start?

1. Visit the local Brattleboro TV station BCTV. Talk with Frederic. Check, did this last week. (I'm a big fan of already having done the first task on my to do lists so I feel I'm ahead of the game. I used to do this in High school and College. Number one on my list was "wake up". )

2. Watch some shows that they have broadcast. Check out Artisit a'la mode and Grill dog.

3. Find a crew. Need camera person, editor and co-producer. (I'm totally guessing on this, but sounds sufficient).

4. Write a draft for the first show.

5. Find the people.

6. Tape.

7. Edit.

8. Show on TV!

9. Oh yes, and get sponsors.

That doesn't sound too hard.

Want to hear something funny?

As you know, I really want to have my own show, but the funny thing is I haven't had a TV in about, hum, 15 yrs? Well, that's not exactly true, I do own a TV, it just doesn't work except for DVD's and videos. (seems kind of common amongst my crowd). See my fancy TV >>>

So why no real TV? I stopped watching it when I moved out of my parents house because I noticed I was becoming afraid of everything- being kidnapped, chopped up- you name it. There's a lot of really violent shows on just the regular old basic channels and even flipping through those 5 to 7 stations I'd see just a tidbit, or a commercial for some crime or police show and hear that spooky music and get totally freaked out. I wanted to go check the lock on my door, bolt the windows, close the curtains. But, I was too afraid to even do it, for fear some crazy dude with an axe was just waiting for me to turn the doorknob at the right time. So, that's why no mucho TV.

However i do enjoy a good ole' Oprah show, Project Runway, Sex and the City and such. I mostly get to see these when I'm staying in a hotel or on Netflix, which by then hardly counts because the shows are already like 5 yrs old by the time you can watch it.

To give you an idea of how up to date I am on TV shows, I just discovered 30 Rock. Wonder when that came out.... no clue. But, it's really funny. Have you seen it??

Sooo, part of the reason I want to have a show is because I want to do something NOT creepy, but kooky, fun and maybe even a bit inspirational. That sounds like something I would watch (if I had a TV).

By the way, do you have a TV?
What's your favorite show?

i + t

it just doesn't get any better than this.
had to share.

My first blog- EVER

Okay, so this is my first blog - ever. And this is my first post, also - ever. So pretty exciting. I'm writing because I need your help. As a career counselor, I'm always getting students to think about what their dreams are and how to make those dreams become a reality. So, I thought I would take my own advice and start by at least admitting that one of my big dreams is to have my own TV show. So, there- I said it.

Now that I've said it to you- the public at large- that means I have to do it. I could use your thoughts, ideas and support since this is kinda scary.

Okay, so the idea came about when Oprah Winfrey (you know her, right?) decided to make about 16,000 people crazy by having a contest to have your own TV show. So, about 16,000 people, more or less, auditioned in person or via an on-line video. My video audition was called "Tell Me Something Good". The show was to highlight inspiring stories about good stuff that's happening and share it. That simple. http://myown.oprah.com/audition/index.html?request=video_details&response_id=14653&promo_id=1

I didn't win, but interestingly enough one of the top winners had the same basic idea, only she got about 9 million votes and I got about 1600. But, that's okay because I realize I can do this anyway. I can do it on my own.

When I heard about Oprah's call for auditions I had a really hard time choosing an idea. So, this new show will be a culmination of those ideas with the main theme still focusing on the positive. Since it's basically going to be about whatever I feel like doing it will simply be The Desha Show. I love it. How about you?

and now you might ask... are you going to tell me what this show is about, or what?
Yes, I am! Sort of.

It's about stuff that interests me, that's the beauty of having your own show, right?

and here's the stuff that interests me...

  • BEAUTY
  • FASHION
  • ART
  • DESIGN
  • ENTERPRISING PEOPLE
  • INTENTION
  • PERSONAL GROWTH
  • PEOPLE LIVING THEIR DREAMS
  • INSPIRING STORIES OF ALL SORT
So for now, I will be exploring the idea for the show and all the things that interest me. Maybe it interests you, too~
